Swing from this monkey bar, pick up the dash refill, then dash to the other side. You'll need to reach its platform by jumping off the nearby stairs to reach the monkey bar ahead. Outside, an Arachnotron will be shooting you from a distance. Exit through the door that opens, killing the two Soldiers in the process. Head towards the back of the room after the encounter and press the button marked by a waypoint next to some monitors. Kill all of the demons that ambush you here. Head back up the stairs you just took and turn left at the top to enter another room.

In this room will be a Codex Entry (Book of the Seraphs - Part I). As you enter the door, turn left and hug the left wall to follow a staircase down to a lower floor with a gravity lift at the bottom. Continue back outside to where the first encounter of the level was to find more enemies waiting for you.Īfter this encounter outside, head up to the top platform and enter the door all the way on the left side (if you are facing the building) that requires the blue keycard you picked up earlier. Pick it up and head back the way you came where more enemies will ambush you. After this initial encounter, head down to the bottom floor and enter the door on the right marked by a waypoint.Ī few enemies will be inside this room, so deal with them a proceed to the back of the room to enter a second room with a blue keycard to the left as you enter. This may be jarring if you haven't played the game in a while, but it should still be manageable on the lowest difficulty. This first level does not waste any time by easing you back into the combat loop, instead opting for a similar difficulty to that of the end of the base campaign.

Walk forwards across the bridge to reach the main area where some demons will spawn. As you exit the dossier, check all of your weapons and switch to your preferred mods, as starting a new DLC save file resets those as well.

You will not need to recollect any of these things, even if you have never played the base campaign. While in the dossier, you will notice that you already have everything upgraded and unlocked, such as your weapon upgrades and suit upgrades. Once again, I consider Air Control to be a must and I personally prefer to use Equipment Fiend and Dazed and Confused for my other Rune slots. Because The Ancient Gods: Part One and the base campaign run on two separate save slots, you will have to adjust your Runes to fit your play style. The second half of the mod (episode 2) can be a bit confusing at times because of the level layout and I wish more narrative moments would be put in this second part of the game. I was so impressed with it that I found the action parts sometimes a bit less engaging and wanted to continue the narrative to see where the story would head towards. This is great since it always amounts to great world building and I was very impressed with all the narrative sections this mod had to offer. That means that in between the action there is plenty of narrative and moments of environmental storytelling.
